San Diego Beer Week: A 10-Day Celebration of the Thriving San Diego Craft Beer Community

For brew-philes of SoCal, early November brings one of the most exciting events of the year: San Diego Beer Week, the city’s official craft-beer celebration. Sponsored by the not-for-profit San Diego Brewers Guild, in partnership with organizations like BSG Craft Brewing and Sycuan Casino Resort, this 10-day festival offers a “beer-cation” for San Diegans, inviting roughly fifty top San Diego breweries to peddle their signature brews. Amplified Ale Works, Helia Brewing Co., and Pink Boots Society are among the vendors in 2019; a full directory is available at the Attending Breweries page.

This year’s event begins with a November 1 kickoff, followed by Guild Fest at Embarcadero Marina Park North. Many restaurants, bars, and breweries throughout the city will host beer-themed parties. Closing night, which takes over the Arroyo Terrace, at the Lodge of Torrey Pines, will bring a food-and-beer pairing that benefits local chefs and brewers.

The San Diego Brewers Guild was created in order to promote this vibrant brewery scene through community-outreach programs, marketing initiatives, and special events. San Diego is considered America’s craft-beer capital, with its more than 130 independent breweries having generated roughly $800 million in 2017. (That’s three times as much as the San Diego Padres.) Its beers are considered among the best in the world, consistently winning international medals previously awarded to English, German, and Belgian breweries.
