Just 45 minutes away from downtown San Diego, Ramona Valley is home to beautiful wineries and vineyards. An up and coming wine region, it’s known for producing some of San Diego’s best wines. So, pack a picnic lunch and hit the road to spend a day at these San Diego vineyards.

Chuparosa Vineyards

100% estate grown, this sustainability focused vineyard produces some of the most bespoke wines in the region. By limiting fruit production input, the vineyard is able to manipulate the taste of their many red wines to “shine directly through from the vines to the table”. This vineyard produces Zinfandel, Sangiovese, and Malbec.

Kohill Winery

Situated in the rolling hills of Ramona Valley, the views from Kohill Winery’s outdoor wine bar, overlooking the acres of lush vineyards, is truly a sight to behold. Besides their vast selection of boutique vintages from their wine cellar, try some of their own estate varietals, including a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Petit Verdot, and a Semillion.

Turtle Rock Ridge

Built into the craggy mountainside in the back country of San Diego, and with a name inspired by the granite monolith that towers above the vineyard, this locally sourced wine producer should definitely make it onto your list to hit. Offering both red, whites, and blends, Turtle Rock’s award winning wines are definitely worth a taste!
