Summertime is here in “America’s Finest City”, and that means the weather is even better than usual. There’s just so much to do around here in the summer months that it can be hard to even know where to start. Thankfully, we have some fantastic suggestions for great things to do during your visit to us. Read on to discover some unbeatable ways to enjoy some of the best outdoor activities in San Diego.

The nearby community of La Jolla is known for being a charming, oceanside haven with great shops, beaches, and restaurants. And while it is that, it’s so much more! Nature lovers will find countless treasures to explore in the city. It’s home to some of the best tide pools in the region, a colony of playful seals, and some stunning sandstone cliffs facing the water that are best explored via kayak. You’ll want to make time to see it all.

In the mood for some entertainment? The San Diego County Fair has a star-studded lineup of performances this year, including music, stand-up comedy and more. Our colleagues at Humphreys Half Moon Inn are hosting a full schedule of household-name acts during the summer season of Humphreys Concerts by the Bay. And the newly opened Rady Shell at Jacobs Park has not only stunning views of the San Diego Bay, but an absolute wealth of world-class shows, as well.

Families, thrillseekers, and anyone looking for a fun day out will find much to love at Belmont Park. This timeless boardwalk-style waterfront rides-and-games destination is located in picturesque Mission Beach and features favorite attractions like the Giant Dipper roller coaster, mini-golf, rock climbing, classic oceanside beach front dining, and more. Pacific Terrace’s home of Pacific Beach is one of the greatest places in the metro to get in a little retail therapy. Treasure hunters will find much to love along the nearby Mission Beach Boardwalk, with its proliferation of boutiques, bars and bistros. Garnet Avenue in PB is also a thoroughfare that can boast a robust selection of great little holes-in-the-wall where the curious will find unique souvenirs, gifts, apparel, accessories and much more.

San Diego’s proximity to water, mountains and lots more varied terrain means that our area is quite the draw for daredevils. In addition to the aforementioned surfing, San Diego also offers lots of opportunities for parasailing, bungee-jumping, rock-climbing, SCUBA diving and snorkeling, cave spelunking, hiking, kayaking, skydiving, hang-gliding, whale-watching and even emerging activities like hydrosports jet packs and gliders.
