New Restaurants in La Jolla + Pacific Beach to Explore This Summer

While we’re not as known for it, San Diego has a fantastic dining scene for all you foodies out there, and there are always amazing new restaurants opening- especially here in our nearby coastal area. Not only does our neighborhood feature great local dining, but our Pacific Terrace Hotel offers a variety of Sips and Bites for hotel guests to enjoy poolside, during happy hour, or in-room for those of you not wanting to venture out as well. Check out our Terrace Café to indulge in amazing breakfast options, and delicious seasonal specials this summer. 

To help you stay updated on the latest and greatest of our local dining scene, we’ve put together a list of six new restaurants in La Jolla and Pacific Beach to add to your list of places to visit during your next stay in San Diego.  Bring your appetites and explore our list below!

Prince Street Pizza (0.3 Miles to Hotel)

Opening this June in Pacific Beach, Prince Street Pizza is a popular NYC-based pizzeria. With another location in downtown San Diego that just opened last year,  you’ll still find lines out the door with locals dying to try a fresh east coast-inspired slice. Best known for its delicious Sicilian pizza pies, there is no better place to grab a slice of authentic NY-style pizza than Prince Street. Try the ever-popular Spicy Spring square slice or a round Neapolitan-style pizza made from the Morano family recipes handed down by generations.

Irv’s Burgers (0.3 Miles to Hotel)

Considered an institution by locals for decades, Irv’s Burgers was established in 1946 and is a popular stop for those along Route 66. Their newest location is set to open in June in the Mission + Garnet complex at Pacific Beach, and the original LA roadside burger stand has quite a following. Popular with locals, visitors, and celebrities, Irv’s Burgers serves burgers, chili cheese dogs, and the best milkshakes around!

Pacific Beach Hideaway (.04 Miles to Hotel)

This 5,500 square-foot California beach bungalow-inspired bar and restaurant will be opening in Pacific Beach this summer and is sure to fit right in with the PB scene!. With inside and outside seating, an open-air bar, and classic arcade games, Pacific Beach Hideaway plans to serve their own spin on California American classics. Favorites include Agua Chile Halibut Sashimi with avocado, Grilled Ahi Niçoise Salad with seared tuna, Magic Mushroom Pizza, the Tower Burger with hand-crafted gourmet beef patties, and even brunch. There will also be a full-service bar with handcrafted cocktails, shareable “Social Bowls”, spirits, wine and 30 local brews on tap.

La Corriente Cevicheria Nais (3.3 Miles to Hotel)

This stylish Mexico-based restaurant has just opened its first U.S. location in La Jolla and their extensive seafood menu is a hit with locals and visitors. In addition to fresh ceviches, popular menu items include Shrimp Enchilado, Pacific Tostada with slices of tuna and scallops, Ensenada-style fish tacos made with beer-battered fish, and the “Taco Kalifornia,” with grilled shrimp inside of a chili pepper. The Pearl Street location in La Jolla is also known for its delicious beverages like their Bloody Marys and Micheladas.

Roseacre (3.8 Miles to Hotel)

The new 5,000-square-foot, 2-level restaurant and bar is planned to open in late summer 2024 and will feature an open kitchen and custom seating areas for around 170. Plans include an immersive dining experience on the first level that celebrates the richness of the local ingredients of La Jolla and an ambiance that is welcoming. The smaller second level will be home to a 30-seat reservation-only rooftop Garden Bar with amazing views, cocktails, small bites, and live music at one of the newest La Jollarestaurants.

Le Coq (4.0 Miles to Hotel)

One of the exciting new La Jolla restaurants is a French steakhouse called Le Coq. French for “the rooster,” Le Coq will offer classic and contemporary dishes that spin on popular French food that will be made with local California ingredients! Headed by Tara Monsod, a 2024 semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef award for California, Le Coq is set to open very soon and is an exciting addition to the La Jolla area restaurant scene.

The Amalfi Llama (9.4 Miles to Hotel)

This new La Jolla restaurant offers a unique dining experience with delicious cuisine prepared via a live-fire for an amazing taste you won’t soon forget. The Amalfi Llama uses some of the exotic live-fire techniques that popular in a variety of different cultures when cooking meat and seafood, whole grains, and vegetable dishes. From prime beef carpaccio and lobster arrabbiata spaghetti to wood-fired pizzas and Wagyu steaks, the special menu and cooking techniques are sure to please at this exciting new La Jolla dining establishment.
