The 2016 Farmers Insurance Open golf tournament comes to Torrey Pines in San Diego, Thursday-Sunday, Jan. 28-31. It's San Diego's prestigious PGA tournament, attracting the best of the best. The opening round takes place on the North and South courses on Thursday, and the final will be held on the South Course on Sunday. The awards ceremony will take place on the 18th Green South. When you're not cheering on the golf players (following proper spectator etiquette, of course), you can spend time exploring the SERVPRO Fan Village. Highlights include The Fringe open-air sports bar and the Expo behind the 15th green. At the Expo participants can try the latest golf gear and partake in interactive exhibits.
Torrey Pines is less than a half-hour's drive from Pacific Terrace Hotel to the north in La Jolla. Choose either the coastal La Jolla Scenic Road or take Interstate 5-both routes are about the same, time-wise. Parking will be available in a few different places including Scripps, Sanford Consortium, Del Mar Racetrack and SeaWorld, with shuttles running from the last two options. Parking prices are $25-$30, and purchasing parking in advance is strongly recommended. Admission tickets to the Open for adults start at $40. They are $10 for children, although those ages 12 and under are admitted free. For more information on the schedule and to purchase tickets, go to the Farmers Insurance Open website.
