Things to Do in San Diego - 2015 Holiday Events in San Diego

Holiday Events in San Diego
Celebrate the holidays in style in San Diego. There are lots of exciting holiday-themed activities happening close to Pacific Terrace. In fact, on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, Fiora Firefly, our Fire Dancer, will perform her jaw-dropping show. Following are a few other fun events of the season nearby.

Join revelers Saturday, Dec. 5, 11AM-3PM for the 52nd North Park Toyland Parade & Festival. The parade route through this historic neighborhood makes its way down University Avenue, between Utah and Iowa streets. Expect to see marching bands, dance troupes, vintage cars and of course, Santa Claus! He'll be riding atop a shiny red fire engine. All-day parking is available at the North Park Parking Garage for $1. For more information visit the Toyland Parade & Festival website.

Sunday, Dec. 6, 1:30PM, head to the La Jolla Christmas Parade & Holiday Festival. Like the Toyland Parade, the La Jolla Parade will boast floats, beauty queens and more. The Festival, at the Recreation Center, will include crafts, photos with Santa, live entertainment and educational exhibits. For more information, visit the La Jolla Parade website.

The 2015 Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis takes place Saturday, Dec. 12, 8AM. This fun 5K takes place in Balboa Park, and is a fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation. Tie jingle bells to your running sneakers to indicate your support of finding a cure for this debilitating condition that affects millions. To find out more or to register, visit the website.

The next day, the Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade will provide all kinds of cuteness, Sunday, Dec. 13. Of course there will be a costume contest with categories like Best Pet Costume (canine and non) and Best Ugly Holiday Sweater. For more information, visit the Gaslamp Quarter Pet Parade webpage.

Boat Parades are a unique holiday tradition of San Diego that are not to be missed.  The Mission Bay Christmas Boat of Lights kicks off the season on Saturday, Dec. 12, 6-9 PM, which features boats decked in holiday decorations sailing around Mission Bay.  The 44th Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights takes place twice on Sunday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 20 starting at 5:30 PM.  The 2015 theme for the parade is Christmas Around the World.
