San Diego Annual Events
With year round sunshine and 75-degree weather, it’s easy to enjoy annual events every month of the year. It doesn’t matter what time of year you’re visiting America’s Finest City, there’s an annual event that draws major crowds, major media presence and major fun. If you’re the athlete in your traveling crew, make sure to book a bib in the Rock and Roll Marathon and Half Marathon, an event that gets the whole city involved. Freeways are closed (yes, really!) and rock bands line the streets of the city for more than 26 miles of fun. For anyone with a little bit more ‘local’ in their agenda, the San Diego County Fair is one of the finest in the state and brings together some of the best San Diego features including sweeping ocean views, delectable food and thrilling rides. If you’re lucky enough to grab a spot on the downtown beaches or sneak into balcony views, the July 4th celebrations are one of the brightest you’ll ever see. With fireworks shows charged throughout the city in various neighborhoods, including Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Seaport Village, Coronado and Imperial Beach, each are glorious on their own – but launched simultaneously, these fireworks shows – from one high view – can be see up in the sky all at once, lighting the black night skies with colorful Americana hues. And one of the biggest events in July is Comic Con, where Hollywood actors, anime fans and comic books celebrity flock to the San Diego Convention Center. Whatever you fancy, with so many things to do in San Diego you’ll have your pick on some great annual events.
